Emergency dental care

What is emergency dental care?

Emergency dental care addresses situations that cannot be left untreated — such as severe pain, trauma, infection, or bleeding — by first rapidly relieving the complaint and then resolving the underlying problem permanently. The goal is not merely to relieve pain, but to save the tooth and surrounding tissues.

At ÖzbuDent, emergency walk-ins are prioritised over scheduled appointments. Our on-call dental service means examination, X-rays and treatment are available during evening and late-night hours as well.

Which situations are dental emergencies?

Severe, throbbing pain, facial swelling and abscess, a tooth knocked out or broken by impact, uncontrolled bleeding, and a lost filling or crown all require urgent evaluation.

What causes toothache?

The most common cause is tooth decay that has progressed and reached the dental nerve. Abscess, gum inflammation, an impacted wisdom tooth, a cracked tooth, and extreme sensitivity can also cause severe pain; the source is confirmed through examination and X-rays.

Is a painkiller enough?

No. A painkiller only temporarily masks the complaint; the underlying decay or infection continues to progress. Every day of delay reduces the chance of saving the tooth and increases the complexity of treatment.

Why ÖzbuDent

Why choose ÖzbuDent in an emergency?

When to seek help

Which complaints require immediate attention?

For all of the conditions below, early intervention both shortens your pain and increases the chance of saving your tooth.

Severe, throbbing toothache

This is usually a sign that decay has reached the nerve; root canal treatment saves the tooth without extraction and eliminates the pain permanently.

Facial swelling and abscess

This indicates a spreading infection and is a condition that must not be delayed; the infection is brought under control and the causative tooth is treated.

Broken or knocked-out tooth

After an impact, the first few hours are critical; a tooth that has been knocked out can be re-implanted if you come in promptly, and fractures are repaired with bonding or a crown.

Gum bleeding and inflammation

Bleeding, red, and swollen gums are a warning sign of advancing gum disease; gum treatment stops the infection and prevents further tooth loss.

Treatments

Treatments used for pain and dental emergencies

The correct intervention is determined by examination and X-rays based on the source of your complaint; your pain is relieved first, then a permanent treatment plan is established.

Root Canal TreatmentSaves the tooth

A tooth damaged by decay or trauma all the way to the nerve is saved without extraction by removing the infected tissue and filling the root canals. With modern rotary instrument systems, most cases are completed in a single pain-free appointment.

Process

How does your emergency visit proceed?

From the moment you contact us to the permanent resolution of your pain, we are with you in four steps.

Get in touch immediately

Call us or reach out via WhatsApp; based on your complaint, you will be directed to the nearest branch with a same-day appointment.

Examination and diagnosis

The source of the pain is identified within minutes through examination and X-rays; your condition is explained to you clearly.

Relieving the pain

Local anaesthesia brings your pain quickly under control; initial treatment is performed for infection, bleeding, or fracture.

Permanent treatment and follow-up

The problem is resolved permanently with root canal treatment, extraction, or gum therapy; healing is monitored through follow-up appointments.

Until you reach the clinic

What should you do before you reach us?

Correct first aid both eases your pain and improves the chances of saving your tooth. After contacting us, follow these recommendations:

For pain

Rinse your mouth with warm water and gently clean between the teeth; if there is swelling, apply a cold compress to the cheek from the outside.

For a broken or knocked-out tooth

Store the tooth fragment or knocked-out tooth in milk or saline and bring it with you; do not touch the root of the tooth with your fingers.

For bleeding

Place a clean gauze pad over the area and bite down with gentle pressure; hold for 15–20 minutes without frequently lifting the pad.

What not to do

Do not place aspirin directly on the aching tooth, do not apply external heat, and do not take antibiotics without consulting a dentist; these can worsen the situation.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about pain and emergency treatments

Where can I go for a toothache in the middle of the night?
ÖzbuDent branches are open every day from 09:00 to 03:00 with on-call dental service. For pain, swelling, or trauma at night, simply call us or send a WhatsApp message — examination and treatment can be carried out the same night.
Is root canal treatment painful?
No. Root canal treatment is performed under local anaesthesia; you will not feel pain during the procedure. In fact, the existing pain caused by nerve inflammation subsides with the treatment itself. Mild sensitivity lasting a few days afterwards is normal.
When should a wisdom tooth be extracted?
Extraction is recommended for impacted wisdom teeth that crowd neighbouring teeth, cause recurring pain and infection, or have developed cavities. Wisdom teeth that have erupted fully and can be cleaned properly do not need to be removed; the decision is made after examination and X-rays.
I have facial swelling — how urgent is this?
Swelling spreading to the face indicates that the infection is advancing and must not be left untreated. You need to come in the same day; the infection will be controlled and the causative tooth treated. If you experience difficulty swallowing or breathing, seek medical attention immediately without delay.
Can a broken or knocked-out tooth be saved?
In most cases, yes. If a knocked-out tooth is kept in milk or saline and brought in within the first hour, the chances of re-implantation are high. Broken teeth can be repaired with composite bonding, root canal treatment, or a crown — seeking care early determines the outcome.
How much does emergency dental treatment cost?
The cost depends on the source of the pain and the treatment required (root canal, extraction, gum treatment, etc.). A clear treatment plan and fee information are provided after examination and X-rays; please contact us for details.
